Gratitude in 2020

For most people, 2020 has been a rough year. Between normal personal struggles, living in a global pandemic, economic and climate uncertainty, a major election year… The list goes on as to the struggles we’ve surmounted this year. As perspective though, we wanted to offer the things that we’re grateful for this year – there is still so much light in this world despite it all!

  1. The Loveland Community
Our community has banded together in amazing ways to support each other. Whether its the rush to support small businesses by ordering takeout or gift cards, or just neighbors connecting to check on each other – our community truly embodies the spirit of LOVE that’s in our name! While we miss the large gatherings, our community is still very much together in spirit!
  2. Front Line Workers
There are too many to list here, but health care workers, fire and police, grocery workers, city service workers, teachers and more are all amazingly dedicated professionals that we literally could not have made it through the year without. There’s no effective way to thank all of you for what you do, day in and day out, but we’ll say it the simplest way – THANK YOU!
  3. Creativity and Resilience in Business
Our business owners have shown incredible tenacity in an ever-shifting landscape, while often still opening their hearts to help those around them. While they have faced their own individual financial and possibly health struggles, they have donated meals, raised money for non-profits, completely shifted their business models, implemented sweeping health policy and operational changes… All with a smile on their face – even if it was wisely hidden behind a mask! We are in awe of what they have dealt with and accomplished in 2020!
  4. Regional Partnerships
Without the support of so many amazing regional partners in the last year, it would have been impossible for the LBDC to continue helping clients as we have. “Economic development” is a relatively generic term that most people don’t understand, but here in NoCo it is a strong partnership of government entities, non-profits, chambers, and other organizations that band together to support business and economic growth. This pooling of resources and continued collaborative communication has led to NoCoRecovers.com, the CSU PIVOT program, numerous community grant programs, and so much that goes unsung. It is with heartfelt appreciation that we express our gratitude at being part of this amazing team that will help Northern Colorado remain resilient and one of the best places in the country to live!

As we move into the final month of 2020, we want to remind everyone that there have been important lessons learned throughout this last year. Our values on what’s important have changed, as well as what our responsibility to those around us looks like. We are resilient, adaptable, compassionate, and able to overcome circumstances that most could not have anticipated becoming reality, and that in itself is something truly worthy of our gratitude.

Stay safe and healthy Loveland!
