Allied Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is a non-profit based in Fort Collins that “believes all women entrepreneurs deserve affordable access to education and support as they aspire to personal and professional success.” On the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm, the AWE Connect event blends together education with networking and a moderated discussion to ensure that every participant walks away with useful information whatever level of business they have or are starting. This experience is free for members and $10 for guests (note – men are welcome to attend as guests).
In March, Andreea Ayers (owner of Launch Grow Joy) will present on the topic of Public Relations. This event will take place at Ace Gilletts in Fort Collins and more details are available here. Andreea’s presentation will cover how to craft story ideas that are relevant, how to pitch yourself, your brand or your products/services to the media, how to get editors to open your emails and say YES and how to translate your press mentions into sales. This session is perfect for you if you’ve never pitched to the media before or if you’ve tried pitching but have had little success.
As part of that mission, AWE’s Business Improvement Scholarships provide funds for women entrepreneurs to take classes or attend workshops and conferences as a means of improving their business skills and knowledge. To help people find high quality education, AWE has partnered with the following local organizations:
- Larimer County Small Business Development Center
- The Digital Workshop Center
- Girl Develop It
If you’d like to support AWE’s mission and the scholarship fund, then please consider attending A Night At the Theater Fundraiser on Friday, March 31st. A $30 ticket includes dessert, drinks, entertainment, and a hilarious play, “Don’t Dress for Dinner” performed by Open Stage Theatre & Company.
